What is a 100Ah lithium battery?
A lithium battery has a certain chemical composition and varies in ampere-hours: also called ‘Ah’. This value indicates how many amps a battery can supply in one hour. The higher the number in front of the Ah, the more amps the battery can deliver to a device. A 100Ah lithium battery can therefore supply 100 amps per one hour.
The lithium battery is also made for a specific device, and since it can both deliver and store energy, it can be used again and again!
What is a 100Ah lithium battery used for?
Lithium batteries are used for various devices. Think of watches, hearing aids, electronic toys and razors, but also bicycles, cars and mobile phones. A 100Ah lithium battery can provide a device with a lot of energy, and is therefore suitable for large devices. Things like computers, robotics and solar panels, but also vehicles such as mobility scooters, electric construction machines and aerial work platforms. These 100Ah lithium batteries differ by weight: you can find batteries of only 2.05 kg, but also of 14.5 kg.
What’s the difference between a lithium battery and an AGM battery?
At Intercel you can find many different types of batteries. Frequently purchased batteries are, for example, the lithium battery and the AGM battery. The abbreviation AGM stands for Absorbed Glass Mat. This type of battery has the battery acid contained in woven fiberglass mats, which are located between the lead plates of the battery. With other batteries this usually isn’t the case.
The advantages of AGM batteries are, amongst others, a long lifespan, virtually no need for maintenance and low self-discharge. They come in different sizes and are suitable for products ranging from toys to even complete UPS systems. An AGM battery lasts up to about 1500 charging cycles.
A lithium battery, on the other hand, lasts up to 25,000 charging cycles. These kinds of batteries have a special chemical composition and provide energy through the reaction between manganese dioxide and lithium. They also have a high energy density and limited self-discharge. As a result, lithium batteries last such a long time.
