What is a 200Ah lithium battery?
The composition of a lithium battery is very specific. It contains manganese dioxide and lithium. The electrochemical reaction between these two substances generates a lot of energy. In addition, lithium batteries have a high energy density and low self-discharge. On a practical level this means that lithium batteries last much longer than for example alkaline batteries or AGM batteries.
You might also wonder: what does ‘200Ah’ stand for? A lithium battery has a specific chemical composition and differs in ‘ampere hours’: the abbreviation for this is ‘Ah’. This value indicates how many amps per hour a battery can supply. The higher the number in front of the Ah, the more amps per hour the battery can supply to a device. In the case of a 200Ah lithium battery, it can supply 200 amps per hour.
What is a 200Ah lithium battery used for?
The applicability of lithium batteries is very wide. Think, for example, of hearing aids, electronic toys or watches. However, a 200Ah lithium battery generates so much energy that it’s also very suitable for large devices and systems. Things like batteries for solar energy, electric cranes, lifts and campers.
The differences between lithium batteries and AGM batteries
In addition to lithium batteries, other types of batteries are also available. For example, the AGM battery, or the Absorbed Glass Mat battery. This is a battery in which the battery acid is contained in woven fiberglass mats, which are placed between the lead plates of the battery.
The AGM battery has a long lifespan, requires little maintenance and has a low self-discharge. This battery is suitable for various devices: from toys to UPS systems. You can charge an AGM battery around 1500 times.
A lithium battery, on the other hand, can be charged up to 25,000 times! This is partly due to the high energy density and limited self-discharge.
